BluWave-ai Leads International Panels on Electrical Utility Adoption of Real-Time Artificial Intelligence Software

Canadian innovator shares expertise on using data-driven techniques for operational and environmental efficiencies at Abu Dhabi, UAE and Toronto, Canada energy conferences

Toronto, Canada and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates  –  January 13, 2020.

BluWave-ai jumped into the industry lead in the second half of 2019 by being the first to deploy real-time, cloud-based, AI-enabled energy dispatch in a Canadian utility. With 2020 barely underway, the company’s expertise is in demand at some well-established energy industry events.

In Toronto, Canada, Dr. Mostafa Farrokhabadi, BluWave-ai Senior Director of Technology, is chairing a panel at EDIST 20 (Electricity, Distribution, Information and Technology), an educational conference and exhibition addressing critical engineering, operational, IT and management issues faced by Ontario’s local distribution companies.

For his “Artificial Intelligence for Smart Grids” panel, Dr. Farrokhabadi has curated a range of perspectives with the invited panelists:

The panel will discuss AI-driven techniques for control and optimization of renewable-penetrated distribution systems, in particular microgrids. The session will also explore the uses of data to drive modern grid transformation towards becoming more intelligent, autonomous, and green.

“Our vision at BluWave-ai is to lead the global energy transformation through innovative yet practical solutions, examples of which can be found in our live deployments and multiple active or granted USPTO applications”, explains Dr. Farrokhabadi. “We encourage utilities’ participation in these events so that they can better understand how our AI products enable lower operational costs and emissions, and effectively mitigate the operational risks pertaining to distributed energy resources and electric transportation.”

Also this week, halfway across the globe in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Dr. Nasrin Sadeghianpour, BluWave-ai Senior Smart Grid/AI Scientist, will be at the World Future Energy Summit. The annual conference is the leading global industry event and exhibition for future energy, cleantech, and sustainability. Dr. Sadeghianpour will be on a panel entitled “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in Renewable Energy Environments.” The panel is chaired by Juan Carlos Arévalo, CEO of Green Power Monitor, and also includes:

At both events, BluWave-ai will share real-world production deployment success stories.

"BluWave-ai is one of the companies accelerating the transition to a decarbonized global economy" said Dr. Andreas Kuhlman, Chief Executive at Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena). “This was recognized last fall when the company was named a SET100 Award recipient and winner of the World Energy Congress Startup Smart Grid category. With their innovation being front and center at these key energy industry events, it is clear that the opportunity to inject more renewable energy into utility operations with data-driven intelligence is a key trend for this coming decade."

BluWave-ai’s SaaS-based platform uses data from energy IoT and external sensors, such as global weather feeds, to offer a wide range of predictive optimization products for modern grids, with a focus on distribution utilities with a high share of renewable sources. Our distributed IoT platform consists of Edge and Center modules. BluWave-ai Edge modules are deployed in multiple locations and logically or physically reside on the customer’s premise. BluWave-ai Center manages them, carries out the intensive computing of input data, and continuously adapts AI-enabled models to predict, optimize, and dispatch controls back to the Edge.

With the start of the new year and new decade, BluWave-ai stays focused on its goal of driving the proliferation of renewable energy and electric transportation worldwide. Expect BluWave-ai to participate in many more events such as the ones profiled here, as the company strives for innovation and thought leadership in energy transformation.

About BluWave-ai

BluWave-ai uses artificial intelligence to accelerate the adoption and use of renewable energy sources and electric transportation by communities, corporations, and utilities. Our machine learning platform optimizes the cost, availability, and reliability of different energy sources, both renewable and non-renewable, in real-time. This lets our customers improve their energy decisions for sustainability, reliability, and affordability. BluWave-ai is pleased to work with innovators in the energy industry worldwide including Tata Power (India), Hydro Ottawa, Summerside Electric (P.E.I), and Natural Resources Canada to realize a greener, more sustainable grid for all.
